Wayne County "Capture the Canal" - Submission Deadline

If you love the canal as much as we do, you undoubtedly have taken photos or documented your adventures in some way. We want YOU to share how you "captured the Canal" in our Community Exhibit for the Month of November.

About the event
The Wayne County Historical Society invites artists, writers, photographers, musicians, playwrights, crafters, diorama makers, and creators of all kinds to take part in a community exhibit for the Erie Canal.
Submission Deadline is Saturday, October 25th at 4pm.
Capture the Canal in your own unique way—through words, images, performance, or craft—and submit your finished piece to be part of a special community-curated exhibit from November 4th to 22nd, marking the end of the 200th canal season. All entries will be featured in this exhibit at the Museum of Wayne County History. NOTE: Only a photograph or copy of the work will be kept for our historical records. All works will be returned to the owner.
All entries must be related to or be inspired by the Erie Canal (historic or present-day). This is NOT a judged show.
Suggested Categories:
● Visual Arts – painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media
● Photography – historic, scenic, documentary, creative
● Literary Arts – poems, essays, short stories, historical fiction, memoir
● Performance & Audio – original songs, spoken word, short plays, monologues
● Craft & Folk Art – fiber arts, woodwork, canal-inspired objects
● Digital Media – short videos, animations, digital illustrations
● Youth Category – All categories open to creators who are students in K-12.
Submission Guidelines: Be sure to include Creator’s name and contact information with optional photo of the artist. Youth Submission must include owner name (guardian name, if youth submission) and contact information. Please include Brief artist’s statement (50–100 words) explaining the work and its connection to the canal.
Submissions must be original work. Collaborative entries are welcome.
○ 2D and 3D works should be ready for display.
○ Literary entries should be no more than 2,000 words.
○ Performances should be recorded. Audio/video works should be under 5 minutes.
