About the event

Author and historian Jack Kelly grew up in Wayne County, in the town of Ontario, and never learned much about our county namesake until writing this book about the Revolutionary War. He has stories to tell about this "Band of Giants" who surprisingly held ground long enough to help earn American independence from Britain. But the story covers more than just the dates and times of battles, this story is about the people who lived and fought, 250 years ago, in a promise land where they did the unthinkable, they created their own national identity.
