About the event

The Farewell Reception for the "True Valor at Gettysburg" monument dedication strikes a balance of continuity with the day's activities, music and contemplation of heart. This reception will round out the sentiment of remembrance, gratitude and better understanding.
Reception to be held at the Lyons Elks Lodge #869 , adjacent to Lyons Central Park where the monument is located.

Martin Husk, Author of "The 111th New York Volunteer Infantry: A Civil War History" which is a complete history of the unit with mention of many of the men who served under its banner.
He will tell the story of the 111th from just after Gettysburg to the end of the war with a focus on the Battle of the Wilderness.
