The Wayne County Historical Society invites artists, writers, photographers, musicians, playwrights, crafters, diorama makers, and creative crafters of all kinds to take part in a unique celebration of the Erie Canal!
Capture the Canal in your own unique way—through words, images, performance, or craft—and submit your finished piece to be part of a special community-curated exhibit from November 4th to 22nd and marking the end of the 200th canal season.
Submission Guidelines:

Deadline: Saturday, October 25, 2025

All entries must relate to or be inspired by the Erie Canal
(historic or present-day). -
Submissions must be original work. Collaborative entries are welcome.

2D and 3D works should be ready for display or performance.

Literary entries should be no more than 2,000 words.
-
Audio/video works should be under 7 minutes.

All submissions must include:
-
Creator’s name and contact information. Optional Photo of the artist.

Youth Submission must include guardian name and contact information.
-
Brief artist’s statement (50–100 words) explaining the work’s connection to the canal.

NOTE: A photograph or copy of the work will be kept for the historical records.

This is NOT a judged show. All entries will be featured in the “Capture the Canal” exhibit at the Museum of Wayne County History from November 4th to November 22nd .
