MUSEUM Historical Society Old Jail
"WAYNE HISTORY 2", a quarterly newsletter for all Wayne County history educators of private/public and homeschoolers.  If you would like to be put on our mailing list please call the museum at 315-946-4943 or email info@waynehistory.org.  This publication is made possible by the Lyons National Bank.  The Museum of Wayne County History currently offers a wide variety of educational materials for area educators.  In most cases we can even tailor a program to suit your needs.

PEN PAL LETTERS
- $10 Each ten-letter pen pal series is written to your students by a fictional child from the past.  Each letter is approximately three pages long, and describes daily life and current events.  Choose from: The Early Settlers or The Erie Canal

TIME CAPSULES- $35 Kit Only  These newly redone kits include real artifacts, handouts, enrichment ideas and more.  The artifacts can be handled and studied, giving your students a hands-on experience that will help them learn and understand local history.  Each kit also comes with a teacher's guide to help you identify and work with the material.  (Kits on loan to teachers for 2 weeks).  Choose from:  Before the First Settlers, The Erie Canal, 'Games, Toys & Crafts of Yesterday', The One-Room Schoolhouse, and our newest edition Crime & Punishment.

TIME TRAVELER'S- $50 Kit & Presenter.  Our Museum Educator will come to you and present the program. Choose from: All Around Wayne County, The Underground Railroad/The Civil War, Women of Wayne County, The One Room School House (
presenter dressed in period clothing). All Time Capsule Kits are available as Time Traveler's Programs.

WHAT'S IT? Kits- $50 Kit & Presenter.  This is a fun kit which includes all artifacts that can be picked up and handled, you must try to identify each item.  This is a favorite for school age to senior living centers.

MUSEUM TOURS- Adults $4 Students $2  WCHS Members Free.  Walk through the former County Jail and Sheriff's Residence.  Tours last approximately two hours and include all three floors of the Museum & The Carriage House (weather permitting).  Call today to schedule your tour.  Sorry no food, drink or gum chewing allowed in the museum.  No photos please. HISTORY BUSTER'S CAMP!  The dates have been set for History Buster's Camp 2010. The camp will take place over 4 Friday mornings in July, (July 2, 16, 23 & 30).  The camp themes are Inmates for a Day (July 2), Canals-R-Us (July 16), Artist for a Day (July 23), and Build Your Own Cobblestone (July 30). 
These creative workshops are geared toward 3rd - 6th graders and run from 9 am - 12 pm.  Cost per camp is $10 per child or $35 for all four camps.  Space is limited so camp reservations must be in by June 18, 2010.

"TIMELESS" STUDENT PHOTO EXHIBIT- November 4, 2010 preview party.  This exhibit will go hand and hand with our "Attic Trunk" exhibition, we are asking area high school students to participate by taking photos of those things around them that they view as timeless.  All photos should be submitted to the museum by October 26.  Call the museum for more details 315-946-4943 or email laevans@waynehistory.org
